so i got my new stuff for pc, installed it all and the screen is black on boot.

so i unplug everything except the gfx card and power and hard drives, still doesnt boot. im guessing maybe not enough power, who knows.

so i swap it out for an older 6600 i had 2 in the pc downstairs, so i can now see the screen, and vista crashes on boot, for unknown reasons

auto repair says its not possible, system restore fails miserbaly, so, format c: and installed vista again =/

now its 02:15am and im seriously pissed off with it. Still the mobo and cpu seems to be working, fuck knows why the other gfx card is being a fag, even more confused as to why vista was being a tosser.

so, i shall have fun re-installing everything 2morrow, think i'll leave the pc on to download SP1 again overnight =(

then i can get back to work on making that website to replace the xippy one =P

can see the progress, or lack of, at anytime on www.teamafx.net

similar thing happened when i got my last pc upgrades, went through put all new stuff in, tried to boot and got the right beep codes etc but blank screen, put old gfx in and it worked fine, assumed something was wrong with new setup so went thru testing mobo/cpu/power etc one by one for literally a whole day, thought fuck it and plugged everything back in the way i first tried, and i mean EXACTLY the same way, and it worked.

lame computers me thinks.

What gfx card you got? if you got SLI I think at least 850W is needed. My 600W PSU does not work with my 8800ultra it didnt even turn on, just saw the led turn on and when I pressed the power buttong the fan turned and then all went off. so I got a 750W and its fine although if I put another 8800ultra in making SLI I would need to get a new PSU. But its pointless for so little improvement.

8800gts 640mb one

power is the only thing i can think of, unless the gfx card is buggered, which would be rather annoying ¬_¬

i've given up for now, just using the 6600 (;_;) might try unplugging 2 of the hardrives from the psu and see if the gfx card works then, cause the pc boots normally, all the way up to the vista login screen (i think) it goes through post fine because the LCD screen plugged into the mobo tells me that.

might look at getting a 750 or 800w psu see if that helps, will try and see if the gfx card still works tho first, through some rather annoying combination of swapping power cables to a motherboard that isnt in a case, grrr.

What I hate about building my own PC is that if something goes wrong, you have to try out every little fecking thing to find out what the possible cause is, then if its faulty..thats it you have to wait weeks to get a replacement...

I think my next pc will be a ready built one from dell or summit, then they come to you to fix it.

come to the conclusion its the 600w psu that cant cope with it. Plugged it into the old board with powersupply etc and it worked fine, so the gfx card is still alive.

So who wants to recommend a nice new psu 750W or more =D

yeah thats why i prefer to shoose everything, and then let them build the whole pc and fix any problems. doing so only costed my 30 euros. i prefer to spend that money rather than have long nightmares with new pc stuff :P
