That would be a Great British Pound symbol, as apposed to a € which is for Euros...

And its as a Structural Engieer with AMEC Natural Oil And Gas, basically going about either designing new or working out how to recommision/demolish old rigs.

Congrats, pretty nice starting salary aswell. The downside being a skive at Uni to working 9-5pm every day is a bitch

Expect Scotland to be gone in near future when random blows up an oil rig.

In China 35k is very little... so there 35k a month might be average.

Converted it and nice, don't know what the tax % you pay of your salary over there though, but very nice.
