Headsets

Postby Kidders » Mon Aug 24, 2009 16:27:31

Can anybody point me in the right direction for decent headsets, preferably ones with:

Microphone
Wired
Not USB

Budget... not really sure, I'll consider any recommendations really; the headset I've been buying consecutively (twice) after their death have a rather short life span due to the thickness (or thinness) of the wire, not really good for handling being run over by my chair or being tangled.

So if I could get a reasonably priced, gaming optimal set of headphones, I would be happy.

Thanks

I think logitech have a few modells that doesnt use USB, im using an old modell myself and ive had them for about 4 years now with no problems at all.

Should be able to find various modells that is cheap, good and doesnt use USB in their sortiment.

damn should have taken 5H instead of that siberia. They sit a lot nicer on your head and are more robust.

well audio quality will probably be the same as they are in the same price range.

siberia just has a nice design, but I really think they dont fit well on your head
while the 5H is a simple design, but you can wear them for a whole day without any pain on your ears

Too late now, but if they're really that bad I could always send them back - but the microphone on the H5 is not the way I'd like it, I like to be versatile with it rather than it popping out from the earphone.

just checking it there mate, yeah those are the ones me and rza had, the mic on them is terrible, it always sounds like your a million miles away from the mic.

the 5H is awesome, the mic can retract back into the headphones when you dont want it there and the sound on it is really good, the siberia one tends to be quite flat but really loud.

From my experience sennheiser have always been the best brand of headset. Anyway...

Ive had both 5h and siberia's, sibera's are definately the better choice. They are really comfartable on the head they and have good sound quality. The downside to some extent is the mic but am still using it to this day, and it's not that bad. saying that the mic was just as bad on 5h for me. The 5h's feel awkard on the head, big and clunky and they lack bass, they're ok but not a patch on the siberia's.

I'd still be using them but I went for a top of the range soundcard so need the headset to cope with the decibal output, so I've got a beefy sennheiser headset that both cost an arm an a leg. Worth it though, difference is huge.

Will easily back Rza up. I got some Sennheiser RS120 wireless headphones (no mic) 4 years ago, and they still work flawlessly and sound amazing.

Oh and I have Sennheiser CX130's for my iPod, and they are also immense.

Pretty much never going to get another brand besides Sennheiser from now on...
