I'd have an Mac desktop in a heartbeat if it had the same gaming functionality as a PC.
Ditto tbh.

And I could be an even bigger asshole and say I was in this very postion 3 month's ago and yous told me to go for the PC I showed yous with the ATI card in it, so much money, time and effort wasted on 2 faulty cards and shitty drivers

As for AMD and Intel I can tell you this is a true fact, Intel run more efficient and cooler than AMD but you may get more performance out of an AMD in stock settings. I used to have one myself, I loved them but were always quite hot when I saw the Q6600 for cheap I got it and it was no mistake to switch.
Either one you choose should meet standards, ATI are slow with their drivers and most of the time are unstable when they are release. Nvidia are no better but put more effort into them. There is nothing wrong with the hardware, its the software that causes faults unless there is a known fault on the hardware.
Id pick anything for best money and performance.

Anyways, back on track.
To me it seems as though: Intel rape all the AMD processors (just look at that link I posted, almost all the Intels are on top) yet are more epxensive (but you're paying for what you get).
ATI are not quite as good as nVidia, and cost less correspondingly, so if you want a cheap card get an ATI but if you dont mind paying a little more for those added FPS rates get nVidia. From past experience it seems nVidia have a better track record as far as faulty cards go aswell... Sound fair?
